on the 30th liana left for paris and natalie and i made our way to amsterdam. we didn't take many pictures... natalie has most on her camera, but here are some i took. i was fascinated with the hooks and pulleys the houses all had (the stairs are rather steep), and one day we were lucky enough to see some men moving a couch and a fridge thanks to the pulley!! i was so excited i forgot my manners and took a picture... and promptly got chided by a prostitute who yelled from her window "no pictures!". i didn't dare try to explain what i was photographing...!
and now you find me here in antwerp, in a crazy hostel with a brazilian, a dutch, a swiss-german, a polish and a german. here's the view from my window, the window that is right in front of a grand piano. there is a grand piano in my room, yes.
i also visited the fashion museum where i saw a tweed-covered porshe (pour toi papa!) and "venus in rags". in the cathedral (that we can see from the window) there are some works being restored and the people work right in the church, and answer the questions of the million tourists.

That bike is amazing! Why don't they have anything like that here?!
BEST.TIMES.EVER!
for what it's worth, montreal will soon be implementing a city-wide "rent-a-bike" program like they have in paris and lyon (and brussels, as i found out tonight!).
there is a contest to name said bike... in paris it's vélib' (i guess vélo + liberté? libre service?), in lyon vélo-v... i can't think of a good bilingual name though! (because yes, i have been trying!).
maybe ottawa should hop on the bike wagon?!
This morning on the radio they were talking about "electric-bikes". (moped-like bikes that run on electricity but you can use the pedals if you run out of juice.)
The issue was whether or not they should be allowed on the bike paths or not. All I could say about that was "chill the f!@# out"! We really like rules a little too much here. The A'damians seemed to be ok with sharing bike paths with scooters and roads with all sorts of forms of transportation.
PS: Liana had a second coming jelly fish reaction. I'm totally scared for my wound.
you know what the solution is...!
Oh yeah! It didn't even occur to me. I'm so rude. Let me put it out there: Liana, if you need me to heal your wound, I am prepared to do so.
Love,
Linky
Well it's about time you offered it up, links! I didn't wanna be a baby, but i was pretty hurt your pants stayed on for the entirety of our conversation. But now all is forgiven!
