as sucky as paying bills is, i think paying them on a trip is even worse! i just payed my visa bill and "exotic" grenoble suddenly became discouragingly banal...!

i don't have much time, i need to shower and pack and not go to bed too late (getting up has been haaaard, so little sun!), but let me show you a few pictures i took today. conservateur extraordinaire monsieur jospin had a meeting in hyères-sur-amby for an archaeological site museum he's part of, and we spent the afternoon in crémieu, which has a plethora of medieval structures. c'était drôle de voir que jospin et alicia (sa stagiaire) étaient impressionnés par ce qu'ils voyaient, parce que j'aurais cru qu'ils seraient plutôt blasés.

les halles (
marketplace), datant du 14e siècle.

des égouts! get your mind out of the...!

the shot of this castle was taken from the vantage point of another castle. can you imagine the feudal feuds these two got into?! "agobard, i swear, they're building a fucking turret! they're just jealous; since we dug the moat they've been trying to keep up with the basils* " "will you relax, ingegard. it's not like any of this will remain in a couple of years..."
and more random pictures to tide you over until i shower you with witty musings from lyon!!

bonne fin de semaine tout le monde! take care of yourselves, and each other (have you ever heard the piece on
this american life about the previous life of jerry springer!?).
* i don't know if i have medieval-y friends, but i'm well aware that last names only came into use in the 15th c., no need for a lecture! it was just a joke! jeez!
